A composition comprising an aqueous dispersion containing from 25 to 40% by wt. of a solid particulate boehmite alumina which has a surface area of from 100 to 160 m<SUP>2</SUP>/g and a crystallite size (120 plane) of from 140 to 350 Angstroms, the dispersion having a pH in the range of 3-5.
