PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which convenience for a photographer can be improved by displaying only the information required for the photographer. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an imaging apparatus for imaging an object. The imaging apparatus includes: a display means for displaying a picked-up image of the object; an inclination detecting means for detecting inclination of the imaging apparatus with respect to a reference attitude; a generation means for generating a guide indication corresponding to the inclination of the imaging apparatus detected by the inclination detecting means; and a switching means for switching for display or non-display of the guide indication on the display means based on the inclination of the imaging apparatus detected by the inclination detecting means. The imaging apparatus is characterized in that the inclination of the imaging apparatus for switching between display and non-display of the guide indication, is varied in accordance with a zoom position of the imaging apparatus.
