PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a draft chamber capable of opening and shutting doors by both up-and-down and right-and-left movement as well as obtaining a stream of intake air having a constant predetermined wind speed without reverse flow if an open area is varied. SOLUTION: The draft chamber is characterized in that: an open area of a front opening 3 in the up-and-down direction, an open area of a front opening 3 in the right-and-left direction and an exhaust airflow amount are determined according to a detected signal from an up-and-down opening position sensor 31, a detected signal from a right-and-left opening position sensor 33 and a detected signal from an exhaust airflow detection sensor 43 respectively by a control part 15; comparison operations are carried out with respect to determined information of the open area in the up-and-down direction to that of the exhaust airflow amount or determined information of the open area in the right-and-left direction to that of the exhaust airflow amount respectively; and an exhaust airflow adjusting means 11 is controlled according to when the front opening is opened in the up-and-down direction or in the right-and-left direction respectively so that the intake air having a predetermined wind speed always flows into a working room.
