PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red fluorophor emitting in high efficiency by near-ultraviolet excitation and enabling white light emission through combination with blue and green fluorophors, therefore serving as a fluorophor for white LED and also for liquid crystal backlight and CRT in illumination applications and display device sectors, furthermore applicable to special light sources and forgeryproof printing, besides, giving electronic display devices including FED(field emission display), PDP(plasma display) and EL(electroluminescence). SOLUTION: The red fluorophor for near-ultraviolet and green-color excitation comprises Ba<SB>2</SB>ZnS<SB>3</SB>as crystal matrix with an emission center Mn<SP>2+</SP>activated in high density.
