PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and low-cost lens drive device which accurately stops a lens group at a desired position by a simple structure and is suitably incorporated in a personal digital assistant or the like, and also to provide a lens drive method and an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: The lens drive device has an electricity conduction control means for controlling the amount of electricity supplied to a shape memory alloy, and also has a detection means for detecting whether or not the lens group has started to move. The amount of movement of the lens group in the optical axis direction is controlled, based on the amount of electricity supply when the detection means detects the movement of the lens group.
