An electronic device capable of saving electric power is provided to prevent unnecessary electric power consumption while the electronic device is not used by detecting an RF(Radio Frequency) tag of a user. A tag communicator(110) communicates with the RF tag(200) placed within a short range. A controller(120) turns off the electric power of the electronic device(100) or performs switchover to an electric power saving mode if communication with the RF tag is not performed in the tag communicator. If the tag communicator detects the RF tag in the electric power saving mode, the controllers performs the switchover to a general electric power mode from the electric power saving mode. If the tag communicator detects no RF tag in the electric power saving mode for a predetermined time, the controllers turns off the electric power of the electronic device. The RF tag is implemented in a mobile terminal and the electronic device is a computer.
