PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove loose particles to be produced in slitting a wide mother tape into narrow buffing tapes and to be stuck to the tapes. SOLUTION: A guide roller for guiding slit buffing tapes to a winding roller and a compression roller arranged on the opposite side of the buffing tapes so as to face the guide roller are provided. A wiping tape is arranged between the guide roller and the compression roller so as to move in the direction opposite to the moving direction of the buffing tape to remove the loose particles by being pressed against the buffing tape. The wiping tape is advanced at a specified rate determined according to the feed speed of the mother tape and the compression pressure between the guide roller and the compression roller so as to remove 50 to 80% of the loose particles of 0.3 to 5μm in the state in contact with the buffing tape.
