PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the convenience when recording by using the output for a headphone in an audio device. SOLUTION: This audio device has an output circuit to output the sound signals inputted from predetermined signal sources 1-4 to a speaker 9 through a volume control 8, an on/off means 10 to turn on/off the output through the volume control to the speaker, an output terminal 12 to connect a headphone 18, a terminal state check means 14 to discriminate the first terminal state that the output terminal is connected to the outside and the second state that it is not connected, and a mode selection switch 13 to switch the first output mode where the output path to the output terminal is branched from the circuit between the volume control and the on/off means, and the second output mode where the output path is branched from the circuit between the volume control and the signal sources.
