PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser driving device along with an image forming apparatus using the same, capable of shortening the time required for detecting intensity of laser beam required for controlling a driving current of semiconductor laser. SOLUTION: An A/D port in which a voltage (Vld hereinafter) of a cathode of a phototransistor that detects output of a laser diode is inputted, is provided with an A/D converter 81 that converts Vld into a digital value. The Vld that has been converted into digital value by the A/D converter 81 is converted into PWM value by an A/D to PWM calculator 82. The PWM value is sent to a PWM counter control unit 89 after temporarily stored in a PWM value storage 88. The PWM counter control unit 89 inputs the PWM signal of the duty ratio corresponding to the PWM value stored in the PWM value storage 88 into an LD power control unit, for controlling the drive current of the laser diode.
