<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graft pattern forming method by which a high resolution oil-/water-repellent area based on digital data, etc., can easily be formed in a desired pattern shape on a solid surface by using a simple and easy system such as a general-purpose ink jet system. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid containing a compound having an oil-/water-repellent functional group and a radical polymerizable unsaturated double bond group is patternwise disposed on a substrate surface capable of generating a radical upon heating or exposure. Also, an oil-/water-repellent graft polymer pattern bonding directly to the substrate surface is formed in the liquid disposed area by heating or exposure.
