<p>A screening method comprising the following steps of: culturing a cell in each condition of the presence or absence of a test compound; measuring the expression level of HIF-1a in the cell cultured in each condition; and in the case where the expression level of HIF-1a in the cell cultured in the presence of the test compound is less than the expression level of HIF-1a in the cell cultured in the absence of the test compound, determining that the test compound is a compound inhibiting development or progression of familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.</p>
