<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic apparatus that has an electronic device for transmitting and receiving data by serial communication, maintains an efficient data transmission, prevents the misidentification of a communication period and a communication error caused by the disabling of the handshake between transmission and reception sides, and inhibits an increase in an area occupied on a printed board caused by an increase in a signal conductor. <P>SOLUTION: A RDY wire 15 maintained at a high level in a basic state is provided, and is driven to a low level by a transmission-side IC11, thus transmitting a transmission request to a reception-side IC12. The reception-side IC12 receiving the transmission request drives the RDY wire 15 to a low level until one's own reception preparation is ready. The transmission-side IC11 does not transmit data until the RDY wire 15 reaches a high level after sending out a transmission request.
