摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce an angle determination method so that detection of influence by mechanical tolerance is especially facilitated without additional hardware cost for its next compensation. SOLUTION: This angle determination method is a method of absolutely determining a rotation angle of a steering wheel of an automobile, especially an angle state with a transmitting/receiving unit including a sensor array having a light source and many photoelectric conversion elements and a code carrier that is arranged rotatably with respect to this unit and has a unique and sequential sign of an angle value. In the determination method of mapping a segment relevant to the sign on the sensor array in this case, and evaluating the position of light/dark conversion in an output signal of the sensor array for detecting a code word matching with the actual angle value, the actual position of the light/dark conversion on the sensor array is compared with a curve expressing an ideal relation, and the tolerance deviation is detected with a geometric constitution of a measuring device based on the distribution and magnitude of the deviation from this curve.
