The long term stability of fire resistant laminated glazings comprising a silicate based interlayer is improved by ensuring that the concentration of photosensitive transition metal complexes in the interlayer is less than that which would destabilise the interlayer. This improvement may be obtained by reducing the concentration of transition metals especially iron, cobalt and nickel or by producing the interlayer form a silica source which comprises a reduced concentration of those metals.
