PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly switch a microscopic method in what is called a virtual microscopic system with which the microscopic image of an observing body is provided in the form of image data. SOLUTION: A host system 2 allows a monitor 5 to display the partial image of the microscopic image shown with designated resolution out of the microscopic images integrated to an image data file based on the image data file which is provided for every microscopic method, where the respective microscopic images obtained by picking up the image of the same observing body under the same microscopic method and shown with two or more kinds of resolution preset are integrated to one data file. Thereafter, the host system 2 switches the display of the partial image in response to designation to switch the microscopic method, and allows the monitor 5 to display the partial image of the microscopic image picked up by the microscopic method related to the designation, which is the partial image showing the part of the observing body being the same position as that displayed on the monitor 5 before switching the display with the same resolution as that before switching the display.
