The invention relates to an industrial process for obtaining HmG-CoA reductase inhibitors used as antihypercholesterolemic agents, having a purity higher than 99.7 % by displacement chromatography method. According to the invention, the process for obtaining HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors provides that at least one of the steps in the process for the purification of crude HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors includes displacement chromatography, which involves the use of a displacement agent for displacing HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors with HPLC purity higher than 99.7%.
