PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems wherein sound output becomes different from one intended by the signal source creation side by making a criterion of switching control of an attenuator at an average volume level, and the maximum volume is different for every instrument when digital sound output is transmitted to a receiver as a digital signal by HDMI connection. SOLUTION: The receiver is constituted by providing a sound signal processing circuit which extracts a sound signal and a control signal from a transmission signal transmitted from a transmitter, in which the sound signal and the control signal to which time axis compression is performed are multiplexed and serially converted in a blanking period of a video signal, identifies a kind of the transmitter from the control signal by a microcomputer and adjusts a degree of amplification of the sound signal converted by a converter according to the kind of the transmitter.
