The invention concerns an ingot mold (10) for continuous metal casting, in particular steel, comprising a metal ingot mold body (12) provided with a passageway (18) for the cast metal extending between an intake side (14). The cooling channels (26) are distributed all around said casting passageway (18), having proximate to said intake side (14) a passageway of reduced cross-section and an evacuating side (16). A plurality of cooling channels (26) for a cooling fluid extend along the passageway (18), up to beneath the intake side (14). A receiving chamber (30) for the cooling fluid communicating with the end of the cooling channels (26) on the side of the intake, is arranged recessed relative to the intake side (14) of the ingot mold body (12) and to the end of the cooling channels (26). The end of each cooling channel (26) on the side of the intake (14) communicates with the chamber (30) via a respective oblique intermediate connecting channel (32).The ingot mold comprises a preheater made of refractory material (20) extending the casting passageway (18) of said ingot mold body (12) above said intake side (14), the preheater having and element (24) made of rigid refractory material facing said passageway (18).
