[Also in Group XXVIII] In a filter for liquids comprising a pile of expanded metal discs surrounding a carrier 2, Fig. 1. and secured by a nut 7 and a cup-shaped member 6, the spacing is effected by distorting the metal between the apertures 14, Fig. 3, to form tongues 13 projecting from both sides of each disc and so dis posed as to provide tortuous paths for the liquid which may flow radially inwards or outwards. The spaces between the discs may be filled with felt, and the outer periphery of the pile may be circular, star-shaped or serrated.</p> |
