<p>PURPOSE: A microwave oven and a controlling method thereof are provided to increase output efficiency of a magnetron and protect circuits. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven comprises a power supply(1), a high voltage transformer(7), a magnetron(9), a current detector(13), and a power controller(11). The power supply(1) supplies an AC power. The high voltage transformer(7) generates a high voltage from the AC power. The magnetron(9) generates an electromagnetic wave by the high voltage. The current detector(13) determines whether the current value of the input power to the high voltage transformer(7) exceeds a current threshold. When the current detector(13) determines that the current value of the input power exceeds a current threshold, the power controller(11) breaks the input power to the magnetron(9) to make the magnetron(9) idle for a while.</p> |
