An apparatus for filtering exhaust gas is provided to remarkably reduce the weight while maintaining the strength by interposing an external force absorbing member between dually formed covers. An apparatus for filtering exhaust gas includes a filter(110), covers(120,130), and an external force absorbing member(140). The filter filters the exhaust gas. The covers are dually formed and are separated from each other by an interval. The covers accommodate the filter and protect the filter. The external force absorbing member is interposed between the covers to absorb an external force transferred by the covers. The covers include an inner cover into which the filter is inserted and an outer cover into which the inner cover is inserted.
