PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system and a software program which gradually adapts to monitoring conditions without repeating the same error when erroneous judgment is performed while operating the device. SOLUTION: The monitoring device for monitoring an object 2 existing in a monitoring area 3 comprises: a measurement means 14 for obtaining information regarding the shape or motions of the object 2; a judgment means 23 for judging a state of the object 2 based on output obtained from an output layer R by inputting the information regarding the shape or the motions of the object 2 obtained by the measurement means 14 in an input layer S of a neutral network; an alarm means 41 for raising an alarm when the judgment means 23 judges that the object 2 is at a dangerous state; and an alarm releasing means 42 for releasing the alarm. The judgement means 23 performs additional learning for changing a weighting factor Wifor associating the input layer S and the output layer R when the alarm is released by the alarm releasing means 42.
