Provided are an optically anisotropic, supramolecular composite film material having improved working properties including hydrolytic stability to environmental factor and mechanical strength, and a method for preparing the same. The supramolecular composite film material comprises a matrix of supermolecules which having polar group and is crystallized into thin film, and an aliphatic binder having at least 2 functional groups. The method for preparing the film material comprises the steps of (i) forming a solution-type of liquid crystal layer of supermolecules consisting of cyclic organic compound having substituted polar group and conjugated pi-system; (ii) applying an external force to the liquid crystal layer and then removing solvent from the layer, so as to form a thin crystal film; (iii) treating the thin crystal film with inorganic salt solution to form a insoluble crystalline film of supermolecules of the organic molecules; (iv) impregnating the insoluble film with binder interactive with polar group to form a filled film; and (v) drying the filled film.
