A method of manufacturing a valve plate for a compressor and a valve plate manufactured by the method are provided to improve the closure performance of the suction and discharge valve holes by increasing the closeness of the suction and discharge lead valves. A method of manufacturing a valve plate for a compressor is composed of a first piercing step(S1) of boring a hole at a base metal by corresponding to the position where plural assembly, suction valve, and discharge valve holes are placed; a step(S2) of forming a recessed groove where a suction lead valve is mounted at the perimeter of the hole corresponding to the suction valve with the cold forging and forming a recessed groove at the hole corresponding to the discharge valve hole with the cold forging at the same time; a cutting step(S3) of cutting a perimeter of the base metal to have a shape of the product; and a second piercing step(S4) of boring the hole again on the basis of the hole formed at the base metal to form the assembly, suction valve, and discharge valve holes. A valve sheet formation step(S5) forms the valve sheet more projected than the lower surface of the base metal at the lower surface of the discharge valve hole.
