Supercharging system for a diesel engine comprises two parallel turbochargers (20, 30) operating sequentially and a device that compensates for the decrease in compression ratio of the first turbocharger's compressor (21) when the second turbocharger is started up. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a supercharging system as above in which the system is switched between mono-turbo mode and bi-turbo mode by starting up the second turbocharger by opening an isolating valve (33) upstream of the second turbocharger's turbine (32) while simultaneously activating the compensating device. |
