METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING POSITION USING A BUILT-IN CAMERA AND APPARATUS THEREOF

A position recognition method using an embedded camera of a mobile terminal and an apparatus therefor are provided to quickly perform position recognition and to offer various position information without being influenced by wireless communication environment or geographic environment. A plurality of photographing image units(110), disposed in a specific physical space, photograph a position recognition tag which stores each position recognition information, and perform a digital image process. A distance measuring unit(140) measures a distance to the position recognition tag. An image analyzing unit(120) analyzes an image of the position recognition tag processed in the photographing image units(110), and grasps corresponding position information and directional information of the position recognition tag. A position recognizing unit(150) recognizes a position of a user by using the distance information measured in the distance measuring unit(140) and the position information and the direction information grasped in the image analyzing unit(120).
