PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate optimal drive voltages Vd, Vk to be supplied to a liquid crystal display element according to ambient temperature of the liquid crystal display element inside an IC of a drive voltage generation circuit. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display 1 has a drive voltage generation circuit 15 which generates the drive voltages Vd, Vk to be supplied to the liquid crystal display element 11 according to the ambient temperature of the liquid crystal display element 11. The drive voltage generation circuit 15 is provided in the IC and has a reference voltage generation part 15a which generates reference voltage V0 of the drive voltage, a temperature corresponding voltage output part 15b which outputs voltage V1 depending on temperature in the IC, a voltage control compensation value table address control part 15h for selecting a value of a voltage control compensation table according to the ambient temperature of the liquid crystal display element 11 using the voltage V1, a drive voltage compensation part 15k which calculates amountsΔVd,ΔVk of compensation used for compensation of Vd, Vk and a drive voltage generation part 15m which generates Vd, Vk based onΔVd andΔVk.
