摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device and a manufacturing method thereof that can form a light-emitting functional layer with a uniform thickness, can suppress dielectric breakdown and can achieve high reliability without the occurrence of short circuiting. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device has the light-emitting functional layer 110 between a first electrode 23 and a second electrode 50, and allows the functional layer 110 to emit light in each of a plurality of pixel regions X. The light-emitting functional layer 110 is formed by drying a liquid material. A barrier rib 40 for isolating the light-emitting functional layer 110 is provided between each adjacent two of the pixel regions X. The first electrode 23 is provided in non-contact with the barrier rib 40. The light-emitting functional layer 110 is provided covering the first electrode 23 and contacting a backing insulating film 30 of the first electrode 23 in a region around the first electrode 23.
