PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler capable of reducing an abnormal sound such as a radiation sound, by enhancing the rigidity of a muffler body, without forming a cylindrical shell as a double structure. SOLUTION: This muffler has the muffler body 1 composed of the cylindrical shell 11 for forming a cross-sectional shape in a laterally long flat shape and end plates 12 and 12 for blocking up both ends part of the cylindrical shell 11, and a baffle plate 13 for dividing the inside of the muffler body 1. A flange 14 welded to the cylindrical shell 11 by spot welding is formed at the outer peripheral edge of the baffle plate 13, and a plurality of longitudinal directional inward beads 15 are formed in the longitudinal direction in the cylindrical shell 11 by leaving both ends of the cylindrical shell 11 by a predetermined width, and a recessed part 14a running along the inner surface of the longitudinal directional inward beads 15 in the cylindrical shell 11 is formed at the flange 14 of the baffle plate 13.
