A flat fluorescent lamp is provided to endure an external air pressure, and obtain uniform display luminance and high luminance at low temperature by improving a structure thereof. A front glass substrate(1) includes U-shaped grooves parallel to each other and a phosphor coating film formed on an inner surface thereof except for a circumference thereof. A rear glass substrate(2) includes wavy parallel grooves except for the circumference of the rear glass substrate and a phosphor coating film(5) formed on an inner surface thereof except for the circumference. The U-shaped grooves are perpendicular to the wavy parallel grooves. The U-shaped grooves and the wavy parallel grooves are in contact with each other by interposing the phosphor coating films. An exhaust tube(6) is sealed to an upper side of a glass frame. A plurality of introduction lines(7) are welded to a plurality of groups of cylindrical electrodes(8). A plurality of groups of introduction wires(10) for heater are connected with a heater wire(9).
