A security system and a method for performing authentication of an application using a mobile communication terminal are provided to improve efficiency of resource in the mobile communication terminal by managing security policies corresponding to each application in a policy agent. A security method for performing authentication of an application using a mobile communication terminal includes the steps of: requesting driving of an application to an application loader as software stored in a mobile communication terminal to use the application stored in the mobile communication terminal(S300); requesting authentication of the application by analyzing the application and searching code information for the authentication at the application loader which receives the request signal of the application driving(S302); at the mobile communication terminal, searching an expiration date and an update of an information profile by coupling to a management server through a mobile communication network, and at the management server, if an updated profile exists, transmitting the updated profile to the mobile communication terminal(S304); determining authentication of the application based on the security information at the mobile communication terminal(S306); and if the authentication of the application is allowed by the application loader, displaying a message of authentication allowance on the mobile communication screen before the application is performed, and at the mobile communication terminal, performing the application(S308).
