PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of recording a plurality of video data differing in aspect ratio, in which operability and visibility during photographing are improved, and one video data are cut from a proper position of video being photographed. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus can record second video data with a second aspect ratio different from the first aspect ratio of first video data during recording operation for the first video data having the first aspect ratio; and the imaging apparatus is equipped with a controller which sets a reference position, on which cutting of the second video data is based, when an imaging section generates imaging data common to the first video data and second video data, records the first video data together with the imaging data, and generates the second video data by cutting partial data out of the imaging data and records the second video data.
