PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which is capable of making communications with outside by the use of infrared rays and reduced in size. SOLUTION: In this digital camera, a lower end part of an infrared ray cutting filter 18 provided between a lens and the light receiving unit 14 of a CCD sensor 16 is cut out to form an infrared incident area 22 (the lower edge of the light receiving unit 14 is exposed to the lens). Therefore, some of infrared signals (remote control signals) emitted from an external remote control device toward the lens are incident on the lower end of the light receiving unit 14 of the CCD sensor 16 through the infrared incident area 22 after they pass through the lens. A control unit, such as a CPU etc, is connected to the light receiving unit 14, and the control unit controls the operation of the digital camera corresponding to infrared signals incident on the lower edge of the light receiving unit 14.
