PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device which can deal with an accidental situation and securely light ON an optical part such as a lamp etc. by giving priority to an optical part to be used even if an accidental situation happens when switching an optical part such as a lamp etc. so as to switch to a prescribed optical part even if a position detecting element is not turned ON. SOLUTION: This light source device has a lamp switching mechanism 9 which can move two lamps 41a, 41b and a lamp attaching member 13 by a motor 26 as a power and is equipped with a function to use either one of lamps 41a or 41b among the two lamps 41a, 41b recognized by either one of position detecting elements 39a or 39b. The light source device is further equipped with a control board 66 to actuate the motor 26 of the lamp switching mechanism 9 so as to use the first lamp 41a with prescribed priority when the recognition by the position detecting elements 39a, 39b fails.
