PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a plurality of pictures having different aspect ratio on the same screen while suppressing distortion. SOLUTION: In a digital video camera, thumbnail pictures are recorded with an aspect ratio of 4:3. When thumbnail pictures having an aspect ratio corrected from 16:9 to 4:3 are recorded on a display screen having an aspect ratio of 4:3, longitudinal width is contracted to 3/4. When thumbnail pictures having an uncorrected aspect ratio of 4:3 are displayed on a display screen having an aspect ratio of 16:9, lateral width is contracted to 3/4.
