PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To build a data configuration to make the recorded or erased positions on the information recording medium correspond to pseudo positions on a tape of a VTR so as to provide an interface easy to understand for the average consumer product users having a knowledge only of the conventional VTR as a medium to record images. SOLUTION: Information is recorded in file units on an information recording medium and the information stored in the files is read by reproducing. At least a video file having video information is recorded on such a medium, and that only one video file is recorded on it while leaving non-recorded areas within the extent.
