The bonnet raising device raises the bonnet (3) of the vehicle before it comes into contact with a pedestrian. It has a holder (7) fixed to the bodywork part (4), with a pyrotechnic element (12) and a buffer element (5) of rubber-elastic material on a support (6) which is moved out of a holder when the pyrotechnic element is fired.
