PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for cleaning an electro-optical panel by which foreign substances stuck to the terminal forming surface of the electro-optical panel can be surely removed. SOLUTION: In the cleaning method, cleaning gas is jetted to the terminal forming surface 6 on which a plurality of panel terminals 7 are arrayed before connecting an external wire 8 to a plurality of panel terminals 7 arrayed on the terminal formation part 5 of the electro-optical panel 2 to peel off the foreign substances stuck to the terminal forming surface 6 and suck the foreign substances peeled off from the terminal forming surface 6. The cleaning apparatus 1 includes a jet nozzle 17 for jetting the cleaning gas to the terminal forming surface 6 and a suction pipe 18 for sucking the foreign substances peeled off from the terminal forming surface 6 by the cleaning gas.
