PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane filtration operating method of clarification water by which stable backwashing effect can be acquired, maintenance is easy and running cost is low. SOLUTION: In the membrane filtration operating method of clarification water containing no ionic metal components such as manganese and iron, the clarification water is subjected to membrane filtration treatment without performing flocculation treatment before filtration. On the other hand, at the time of backwashing, an acid or an alkali is supplied thereto from a primary side of a filtration membrane to react with turbid components caught on a filtration membrane surface and then pressurized water or pressurized air is supplied thereto from a secondary side of the filtration membrane to exfoliate and remove the turbid components from the filtration membrane.
