<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus capable of smoothly executing decoding of a moving picture stream. <P>SOLUTION: A video reproduction application program detects the present load quantity of a computer (S101, S102), selects special decode processing as decode processing, which a CPU is to execute when the load quantity is greater than a reference value, and selects a control mode, in response to the load quantity (S104).
