<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for encoding, programs for encoding processing, and a recording medium stored with encoding processing programs which are applied to a video camera and allow it to appropriately assign amounts of codes to each picture, even if recording time is secured using a one pass method and there exist a plurality of prediction modes. <P>SOLUTION: Rough estimated amounts of generated codes ROUGH PRED (n) that are predicted based on input image data D1 are corrected using a correction coefficient ADJUST (n) to calculate true amounts of predicted codes TRUE PRED (n).
