<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital image printing system which can produce suitable printed matters in a direct print. <P>SOLUTION: The digital image printing system is composed of an external instrument which is connected to a printer and has a faculty to exchange data with the printer while storing the digital image data, and the printer which is connected to the external instrument and has a faculty to exchange data with the external instrument and performs a printing of the image data received from the external instrument. In the system, the external instrument transmits to the printer a sheet size of printing paper, an arrangement layout of the digital image, trimming related information and one or more selected digital image data. The printer is equipped with a paper-feeding means with two or more trays for holding papers, and, if receiving from the external instrument the sheet size, arrangement layout, trimming related information and one or more digital image data, performs a selecting of tray of the paper feeding means based on the received sheet size, arrangement layout, trimming related information and the vertical/horizontal dimensions of the image of the digital image data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
