<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device that can store data of a large capacity, such as image data which users desire to store, safely and by distributing them on the network. <P>SOLUTION: This video archive device comprises an image signal recording part which inputs image signals and records them as digital moving picture data on a hard disc, a recorder which records the digital moving picture data, and a distribution archive processing part which divides the digital moving picture data in the recorder into a plurality of parts, stores them in a plurality of servers over the network, fetches the stored data through the network, and restores them to the original state in the recorder. The device also comprises an image signal reproduction part which reproduces and displays the digital moving picture data in the recorder and a network interface part which interfaces with the networks.
