<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell surely performing sealing for each unit cell, thereby reducing the thickness and obtaining a sufficient output even when contact pressure to an electrode plate is not sufficient. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is provided with a plate-shaped solid polymer electrolyte 1, a cathode side electrode plate 2 arranged on one side of that polymer electrolyte 1, an anode side electrode plate 3 arranged on the other side thereof, a cathode side metal plate 4 arranged on the surface of the cathode side electrode plate 2 to enable ventilation of a gas to an inner surface side, and an anode side metal plate 5 arranged on the surface of the anode side electrode plate 3 to enable ventilation of fuel to an inner surface side. Peripheral fringes of the metal plates 4, 5 of both sides are mechanically sealed in a state of electrical insulation, and a coating layer of a noble metal is formed at least on one inner side surface of the cathode side metal plate 4 or the anode side metal plate 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
