<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of acquiring laterally long/longitudinally long image data without sacrificing the specification liberty of a photographer or the valid imaging range of an imaging device. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises: the imaging device 9; a rotation part 8 for rotating the imaging device 9 centering around an optical axis; a fixing part 21 for fixing the rotation part 8 to the laterally long position and longitudinally long position of the imaging device 9; a drive part 13 for rotationally driving the rotation part 8; a transmission part 15 for transmitting driving power from the drive part 13 to the rotation part 8; a switching part 22 for switching the ON/OFF of the driving power transmission of the transmission part 15; and an operation part 7 for performing the switching operation of the switching part 22. In the rotation part 8, a weight 18 is integrally provided. The operation part 7 is provided on the surface of a case 3 and the rotation part 8 is a lens barrel supported freely rotatably by the case 3.
