The piezoelectric axial vibrator used as a viscosity probe is arranged such that the sample layer is dynamically pressed between two transparent plates (1). A light path is provided through the central part of the sample layer via bore holes in the bottom plate (4) and lid (3) and also through the coaxial piezoelectric probe (5) to allow for optical observation.
