PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit that largely increase its ornamentality and can perfectly avoid the risk of burning. SOLUTION: The lighting unit is equipped with a base (10) that has a placing part on which an object (50) to be lit can be placed, a stand arm (15) that is attached to the base, stand up higher than the object to be lit behind the object to be lit and has a stand arm having the end extending toward the center of the plane shape of the object to be lit, the point light source (18) that is attached to the top edge of the stand arm so that it is directed downward, a cover (19) that surrounds the point light source with a space of at least 5 mm is opened between the maximum cross section of the point light source and the cover has the lower end opened and is formed with a hole (21) for air release at the upper end, and a power cord that is inserted into the inside of the stand arm and connected to the point light source.
