Disclosed is an elongate element, especially a cylindrical semifinished product such as a wire, rod, or similar, comprising a metal core as the predominant basic material and a coating that concentrically surrounds said basic material. The invention is characterized in that the metal core (1) is made of a metal, e.g. aluminum, which is provided with specific properties that have a positive effect on the finished product while the outer, thinner coating represents an envelope (2) made of a metal which has other properties, e.g. titanium. Said envelope (2) at least partly eliminates at least one negative property of the core and overall ensures a substantial improvement of the quality of the finished product. The metal core (1) and the envelope (2) form a sandwich material or a semifinished product having a concentric structure. |
