Rechargeable internal combustion engine (10) has a charging device (11) e.g. a mechanical charger with a suction device (20) whereby a second throttle valve (19) is provided at the suction device to admit combustion air. The second throttle valve is arranged in the bypass line (26) separated from the air supply line (22, 23) of the first throttle valve (17). An independent claim is also included for the method for operating rechargeable internal combustion engine.
