[Also in Division B5] A heat sealing jaw of ring-like form 10 (Fig. 1) is used to seal films 4 and 5 of heat sealable and heat shrinkable material about an article 6. The heat sealing jaw (Fig. 3, not shown) comprises an electric heating wire 19, mounted on a base 10 by means of studs 16 (Fig. 6, not shown) which are provided with grooves 18 which carry the wire 19. When the ring is lowered into its operative position the ends of the studs 16, which carry the wire 19, press into the rubber conveyer 18 and so ensure good contact between the electric heating wire 19 and the films 4 and 5. The jaw may also sever the covered article 6 from the films 4 and 5. |
